This article has been half way done for a long time, but seeing as how the news comes out tomorrow/today, and my 5 month old just went to sleep, I thought I’d Just through it up for discussions sake.
First, let’s start of with Hopes
1. NO DRM.
I’ve been to your future. When I loved in Alaska Bandwidth was limited, and it went quick, and guess what that’s a growing trend among Cable providers. Not to mention the constant cluster of early sim city and Diablo III playing time, or power outages, or cable outages etc. Internet providers continue to move towards a model where they at least cap a certain bandwidth and then lower speed, and the reason they are doing this? Constant streaming data they can’t handle! A new Xbox that was always online would only further aggravate their problem and push them to move to a bandwidth cap, which would then destroy future sales of the XBOX.
2. Reverse compatibility.
Rumor is the next xbox doesn’t have, but look what the 360 did, slowly add titles overtime, at the very least i think this an option, I should be able to move my old 360 to a new room, and give a new console a place in my living room, and be able to play ALL the Halo games on it.
3. Acheivement points carry over
What fun would it be if we had to start over? Why not allow an account to occupy one 360 and one new console?
4. Kinnect 2.0 is entirely optional
please?
5. More control over my dashboard
If I pay for a background, why is half of it whited out? Give us more control, at least for Gold subscribers!
Realistic expectations.
i thought about doing fears, but I realized most of my hopes are really addressing rumors or fears that already out their in the public.
1. A much more accurate Kinnect
Kinnect in itself is not a terrible idea as an option, but the current version started out much like the Wii’s waggle, to imprecise to be anything more than a gimmick, but with work, it could be a nice distraction. I think Microsoft knows this and will be showing they have been working on it.
2. Halo 5
it’s a given!
3. DRM optional/ shipped turned off for now
I think the public outcry has likely swayed Microsoft’s mind. Some rumors are it can be turned on by individual game publishers, that would be a great way to make the publishers potentially have what they want to prevent used games, but make THEM the bad guy instead of Microsoft.
4. DVR
I think it’s highly possible that the next xbox could also be used as a DVR so you can watch shows whenever you want. While a neat concept, it seems a little late as many cable providers are cheaply providing these now, but it is rumored and it adds a nice check on the box.
5. No Ring at the startup, thus no red ring of death.
Similar to the newer models, I suspect Microsoft is going to pre cover it’s butt!
Your thoughts on my predictions, or after tomorrow, of the actual announcements? Let us know in the comments below!
A Mine Craft user has beautifully recreated Westeros, the world first popularized by the Song of Ice and Fire novels, and now made mainstream through the hit adaption, Game of Thrones. I have no where near this level of skill but it’s wonderful to admire. for more info on their map head to: http://westeroscraft.com/
To discuss mine craft hit up our forums HERE and while there browse around there are threads for the Song of Ice and fire books (which the game of thrones show is based on) and many others.

Zelda is awesome. there is no point in denying. I’ve ran into people who didn’t like a certain zelda game, but none who love video games of any type, and don’t also love Zelda. For many of us it was our first introduction into Fantasy in gaming, and it’s stuck with us.
lego has a site called Lego Cuusoo and the idea of this site is that fans can submit ideas for new sets, they can be voted on, and then if they get enough votes they will be reviewed by staff and if possible made.
Zelda is heavily desired, and has made it to the review stage before. While it would take a licensing agreement with Nintendo to happen, the reason why it was declined last time was too many unique parts being required to make the set. (IGN has some info on the history of trying to get Zelda in lego form here.)
Cuusoo user Ragaru has recently achieved enough votes to head to the review process again, using less parts. Check out his work here. He doesn’t need your votes anymore, but you can drool. I also can’t imagine more hits on the page would be a bad thing!
Ragaru isn’t the only one trying to make Zelda Lego a reality. Click Here to check out other users propasals and if you like them, sign up and give them a vote (i did!)
The lines between toys and video games are blurring with items like Skylanders being hugely successful. I think this would be a great way to get kids who love legos into Zelda and her faithful hero Link, as well as get video gaming kids into a creative toy like lego.

Check out this stellar video that explores that idea. I can’t imagine how hard that would be to play!

These beautiful looking rings are inspired by the first bit of text in a zelda game when an old man warns link of the danger to come and gives him his first sword.

A very cool mash up video has recently hit youtube. It retells the story of the first Ghostbusters story using Mario and his crew with a special guest from another Nintendo franchise. The animation looks professional, and the music mixing is astounding. It’s embedded below, give it a look.

Gamasutra is reporting that with the switch to mobile apps facebook games being played are in decline. Facebook’s solution? Target core gamers. Gamasutra uses another article to explain why that’s a bad idea. Dragon Age is a game series i love and to the left you can see the logo for their facebook game, and have I played it? not even once, not even strongly considered it honestly. Would a push from facebook get you into playing games through the social media hub? I have my doubts, especially with a next gen incoming, the Ouya and other more open sources Dark Horse items entering the market, as well as mobile gaming. Let us know on our Video Game forums.

A new free game has been released for iOS .Ghostbusters by beeline interactive is free to play, but features power ups etc. that you can purchase, which is a common them among PC and mobile gaming these days.
It takes place after the Ghostbusters video game, but the story begins with a twist on the first few minutes of the Ghostbusters movie. A character returns in this game we haven’t seen since the first movie, and although i’m in the beginning stages i’m interested to see how the story plays out.
The game play is simplistic, you have a party of ghostbusters, including new recruits, and each ghostbuster is given a class, like scientist, or heavy which have different abilities such as launching slime, or causing more damage. These classes are differentiated by different colored uniforms, but unlike the real ghostbusters these are pleasantly muted in color (light grey, grey, brown)
If your the first to beat the game and want to write a review let me know, I’d be happy to front page it.

Sadly there is no lego tie in with Castlevania on the horizon but over at the Retro Gaming Blog there is an excellent image of a physical lego set up. The stage style would be great for recreating plenty of classic video game looks.
