The Dish on the upcoming SDCC and Hastings The Loyal Subjects Action Vinyls exclusives (TMNT, Transformers, Power Rangers)

The Loyal Subjects Official Facebook group  has revealed a ton of images of the upcoming Exclusives in their action vinyls lines. (CLICK THAT AND JOIN FOLKS, it’s full of great stuff and gets news first, it’s closed for those of us who don’t like public groups too!)

First up lets look at their pile of SDCC Loot (minus one turtle set)

Metalic Rita and Pink ranger, Yellow Constructicons, Buzzsaw and transparent frenzy, an opened package TF and 3 rangers, and not just the TMNT box set shown (that’s battle damaged) but another one too !

Winner of the SDCC stuff in my mind. May actually be my favorite exclusive from the entire show this year.

INVICTA CHALLENGE: A kickstarter with a goal of leadership, and 4 horseman figures on the path to it.

blueboardN

Tom and I (Sam) Got a chance to talk with Jim Murphy about his ongoing kickstarter: INVICTA challenge.  Jim was happy to share a wealth of information with us. The kickstarter itself is already detailed well, and the passion is obvious, but getting behind the ideas even further sold us on the product.   You can listen via Itunes or Stitcher (using our drop down menu above) or directly below for your convenience.

The Key item is a package that gets you into the game, designed to be a multigeneratioal game, able to suck in even relectunt readers, by combining interactive story telling via graphic novel and a free app based game, along with a tangible figure of the Hero. Fans not interested in the game for themselves, might be for their kids, but if you want to go after the figure only, Jim has added that option for you! So you can have the first ever millitary figure sculpted by the 4 horseman starting at only 20$  Jay from Moderately Geeky pitched that Idea, and Jim has shown to be response to fan feedback!

Be sure to hit up their kickstarter directly HERE and like them on Facebook HERE

hungry for me from Jim and Invicta? Our buddies over at Moderately Geeky also had Jim and we suggest giving them a listen too, so click on over HERE to here from Jay in the crew.

Credit to Chad Smelcer of the Army4one FB group for guiding me to the initial kickstarter.

Our friend Dakana in the UK gives food reviewing a try, specifically an item intended to be “American” in nature form Mcdonalds

blueboardNOne of my old podcasting buddies (and hopefully he will be on with us on Nerdrahtio as well soon) gave a McDonalds American themed burger a try in the UK. This particular flavor was really more of an American attempt at Mexican, but it’s true we do that kinda thing in the U.S. (true story Taco Bell tried to break into Mexico by claiming to be American food!)

Check it out below: and give him  like!

Would you be interested in a Sightline (Gary Goggles) Vinyl (and why you should be if you are not)

goodbyegary

Gary Goggles Head was a vital member of the community of Joe fans. His work in Declassified allowed us to see images, and learn info we most likely never would have seen. More than just getting it out there, he brought “old guard” prototype collectors together with so many other types of fans that the community really transitioned into something entirely different than it was before him. His life was cut tragically short when his heart gave out while shoveling sno, due to an unknown heart condition. He left behind 3 kids, their mother, and a whole lot of dear friends.  His legacy in the community was so prolific that Hasbro named a figure to be released this year, Sightline, after him.  (You can hear more about Gary in our tribute episode to him HERE)

Drew Gaska photoshopped the following for us, since it came up in our recent podcast interview with Jonathan Cathey, CEO of the Loyal Subjects (Click Here for that full article and the audio), who was very willing to talk about and consider doing more modern Characters rather than just 80’s Joe and took particular note of the fan response to Sightline when announced at Joe con (a standing ovation… and a few people with moist eyes… okay at least me shedding a tear or two but I won’t rat anyone else out.

The first is more like the actual Sightline, figure (pictured below) but the second is has more character as a figure, and has Gary’s trademark arctic goggles.

If you would be interested in purchasing something like this in a future wave of Joe, PLEASE let The Loyal Subjects know on their facebook page or their official Facebook group. Jonathan assures me they have an ear out to their fans, and I believe him!

Even if you didn’t click the tribute podcast link above, the impact should be obvious.  Gary made a giant impact, and I think this connection Hasbro made with the fans was wonderful and a nice tribute to Gary.  Of all the Joe figures I would want in alternate style to have just a desk version, this would be the one. It has a great story behind it. (I am of course buying tons of these things, I mean one I’d even set on my work desk etc.)  The look is also bit more kid friendly, while not intended for kids, I’ve enjoyed my TMNT’s wtih my son, and I plan to do the same with future Joes. This would be a great way for Gary’s kids, for  all the kids who knew Gary to have a little piece of him, and a neat way to pass a story down to our kids.  -Sam

Me and the kiddo are hooked! We had to go back to our nearest Barnes and Noble and find the last blind box.  My son and I did our second video which you can find below, and when time permits I still plan on doing a more serious review.  If you enjoy this give us a like and subscribe.

Nerdrahtio (and Tom Brooks) Interviews Josh Blaylock about Operation Nemesis and some Joe talk and even more!

operationnemesisThe Legendary Tom Brooks from Reasonably Intelligent Ramblings joined us as we interviewed Devils Due founder Josh Blaylock. We first discuss his new book, Operation Nemesis, the most serious thing we have ever talked about Nerdrahtio. You could read me review HERE, but as a reminder, it’s about a real genocide, real revenge, real war, and real court room drama, with Nazi’s, religious conflict and more.

We then turn to Josh Blaylock’s time with G.I.Joe (after a short trip talking about weird for 15 minutes or so) and other upcoming and ongoing comics published by Devils Due.

Finally Tom Brooks, Tom Mathias and myself (Sam) chat comic tv news, followed by FSS and other G.I.Joe talk with our news desk.

You can listen via the embedded player below or use the drop down menu above to locate us on Stitcher, Itunes or directly at our audio host: Podcast Garden.

Several images follow in relation to our Joe Talk but I first want to plug Tom Brook’s blog, click his happy mug to head over and check it out. There you will find tons of images of the FSS figures we end up talking about.  I’d also love for you to help add some images!  If yo ucould provide us with an image of heartwrencher from the DDP comic, or white guy varient Alpine we could host here (or maybe something else you here us talk about), we would appreciate it. Blind Box opening video: TMNT by the Loyal Subjects

blueboardN

Check below for our first youtube blind box opening video ! The kiddo wasn’t going to let me edit podcasts like I would like to be doing, but it didn’t take much convincing to get him to open and look at a TMNT blind box by the Loyal Subjects. Keep your eyes peeled this week, should be able to drop multiple podcasts episodes! -Sam.
