text notes:

Clutch was revealed via Nerdrahtio on time while I was behind on editing, this podcast should have come along with it. Expected to be open window boxed or classic closed box , but obviously won’t be a blind box.

Want to get a non chase Baroness?  Will red or blue do ?

No official announcements, but keep an ear out for Thundercats as it is a very strong possibility. (Update, thundercats ARE happening!)

Due to licensing TLS does not have the rights to do vehicles for TMNT and it’s not likely they can do playsets either. Tell playmates you want them to be allowed to!

Upcoming figs are designed to be workable with their vehicles and animals, and while it may not be true for the turtles you should be able to get a Joe on battlecat or he-man in your vamp.

Power Ranger wave 2 will still be MMPR, still working on how to get the individual zords to combine!

BONUS UPDATE: Jonathan Cathey has confirmed Street Fighter will have knee articulation and “be like Joe”

Many questions where from the TLS OFFICIAL FB GROUP which you can (and should) join HERE.

(full disclosure, Sam is an Admin in the official TLS group and started that after our interview with Jonathan Cathey)

Nerdrahtio (and Tom Brooks) Interviews Josh Blaylock about Operation Nemesis and some Joe talk and even more!

operationnemesisThe Legendary Tom Brooks from Reasonably Intelligent Ramblings joined us as we interviewed Devils Due founder Josh Blaylock. We first discuss his new book, Operation Nemesis, the most serious thing we have ever talked about Nerdrahtio. You could read me review HERE, but as a reminder, it’s about a real genocide, real revenge, real war, and real court room drama, with Nazi’s, religious conflict and more.

We then turn to Josh Blaylock’s time with G.I.Joe (after a short trip talking about weird for 15 minutes or so) and other upcoming and ongoing comics published by Devils Due.

Finally Tom Brooks, Tom Mathias and myself (Sam) chat comic tv news, followed by FSS and other G.I.Joe talk with our news desk.

You can listen via the embedded player below or use the drop down menu above to locate us on Stitcher, Itunes or directly at our audio host: Podcast Garden.

Several images follow in relation to our Joe Talk but I first want to plug Tom Brook’s blog, click his happy mug to head over and check it out. There you will find tons of images of the FSS figures we end up talking about.  I’d also love for you to help add some images!  If yo ucould provide us with an image of heartwrencher from the DDP comic, or white guy varient Alpine we could host here (or maybe something else you here us talk about), we would appreciate it. Nerdrahtio interviews Sam Wells, former DDP Staff and G.I.Joe Writer

gijoe-sm-brazil_00_00_1179514102Join  Sam (Sears) and Aaron as they chat with Sam Wells. Sam lived a dream. In this interview we discuss his internship at Devils Due Publishing and how this G.I.Joe fan ended up writing a Special Missions Brazil story inspired by the original figures. We also discuss his other work within the company including touching on his work with the filecards and the DDP era of G.I.Joe in general

If you active in the G.I.Joe Group Discussion, or the community, you may know Sam Wells as Queelock, or as Toy De Jour. He also recently made some news by sharing some concept art (shown below)

It’s a short one, but a good one, and hope to have Sam back soon (to talk about the concept art and more) you can listen to the episode  embedded below or use the drop down menu above to navigate to Itunes on Stitcher to subscribe for easy mobile listening.

Sam Wells is currently running a toy store in Chicago called Toy De Jour, give him  a like on facebook,  or visit his store’s site to see what he is up to.

None of the four shown above were released. These appear to be from the JVC/Spytroops/VVV era. Son of Kwinn would eventually become Ghost Bear in VVV and look completely different. Serpentor’s design shares the design of the Spytroops Shipwreck disguise, and in the lower right you can see DTC Scrap Iron and the disguise gear for Burnout, the new Dreadnok from that era.

Personally I love this look for all 4 shown.

and look forward to having Sam back to explain them. -Sam (Sears)

(Note this post was updated with the current audio host’s listing. Aaron left, and he and I have no affiliation with each other any longer, and we have rebranded as Nerdrahtio but have mutual use of our past podcast work together.)

The History of G.I.Joe: Gary “Gyre-Viper” Goggles fills us in on the birth of A Real American Hero

gi-joe

Join Sam (me) and Aaron as they look at 50 years of GI Joe. This time, they’re joined by Gary “Goggles” Head AKA Gyre-Viper from JoeDeclassified and the JDSO podcast. In this episode, we take a look at the origins of the 1980s relaunch of GI Joe: A Real American Hero, retouching quickly on the 12″ iteration’s origin. Gary lends us his brain, Aaron fills us in on a few things that were happening in Europe at the same time with Action Force, and finally Aaron asks both Gary and Sam about the future of the brand. This is an extravaganza of awesome Joe stuff. You can listen to it bellow in the embedded audio player. For more of Sam, stay on this website and use the drop down menu above, for more from Aaron head to the new nerdversity101 page: http://nerdversity101podcasts.blogspot.co.uk/

Sadly Gary Head passed after this recording. He was incredibly supportive in the relaunch to Nerdrahtio and had planned to return to discuss more topics, including an episode one of his favorite comics Age of Apocalypse. He is missed daily by children, their mother, family and friends.

You can hear more from Gyre-Viper @ jdso.podbean.com (Link currently not working)
You can also participate in awesome Joe discussion in the G.I.Joe Discussion Facebook page.

UPDATE:

This post has been updated to reflect the split that occurred and ultimately lead to this website changing from nerdversity.com to Nerdrahtio.com and Nerdversity101 continuing on with Aaron and Alex and me (Sam) Gaining Tom as a co-anchor on the podcast, and retaining control of the website’s content and designs.  There was drama, but that appears to be down, I received an apology, and we are moving on.

Nerdversity interviw with Dan Klingensmith author of 3.75 Joe featuring Gary from WOJM

3.75bookcoverSam (rev) Sears (myself) hosts this interview with Dan Klingensmith author of the upcoming book 3.75 ” Joe that delves into the origins of the 80’s and early 90’s big toyline, from it’s origins, designs, the creators stories, to unused concepts. Sam is joined by hosts Alex “Jaxs”, new comer Nate Blaine, and we were blessed to have What’s on Joe Mind Host Gary Godsoe as a host this episode as well.

You can Listen to it embedded below or on Stitcher  HERE or Itunes key word nerdversity101 (note there were some technical issues that delayed this podcast being up, there is more info below)

We discuss Dan’s interest in the brand and segway to his book. We discuss the Flagg’s Origins, an alternate take on the B.A.T. (Battle Android Trooper) as well as an interesting early spin on Major Bludd and more. We then discuss the current state of the G.I.Joe brand and our hopes for the future.

This episode was plagued with issues. It was recorded prior to the Buzz Dixon interview but the data, after editing, become corrupted and i had to re edit the podcast, and even during the podcast, Nate Blaine lost service, my computer over heated which caused some confusion. We will try have Dan on again the in the future to make up for it but Gary and Alex really kept things going and I really thank them for it!

If you want to hear more from Dan @ his facebook page for his book and this group for his podcast covering behind the scenes of the toyline with the creators themselves. His old page also has a great set of pics as well

G.I.Joe 50th Three Packs: Pics of the quality issues and some broad thoughts

joe3pack 012Early Today I received the 50th Anniversary G.I.Joe three packs that I had pre-ordered on BBTS. I was pretty stunned at the amount of paint errors and other issues with the figs, I was prepared for the feel of more “rubbery” plastic and some errors, but I felt it was worth putting up some quick pics.

First up  a preview of things to come, “melted” collar Destro.”
