JoeDeclassified issue 5 is up

gi-joe-the-rise-of-cobra-logoI’m big fans of the folks at JoeDeclassified. They have some great information about behind the scenes of the G.I.Joe property including canceled, rare, or unproduced toys. They also produce an excellent podcast.  Before the podcast came around, they also issued magazines online. A new issue is up and i think it’s worth checking out. The issue itself is here.

Unproduced Jurassic Park G.I.Joe closes out on ebay for $360.99!

gi-joe-the-rise-of-cobra-logoSome lucky collector has a unique piece to show off. The Ebay auction ended for a large amount and for the buyer’s sake i hope it stays rare.  While the newest JP figure (first picture below) appears to very rare, and only previously seen with a G.I.Joe collectors club Adventure team head, one of the early figures (Bottom picture) initially was rare but can be bought for 10.00 or less, (which I did myself)

25th Xamot/Tamox arms, gung-HO torso, vest and legs, and a BBTS exclusive Red Dog head.

Resolute roadblock body and parts, with a resolute Duke head. I own this figure and he is excellent.

with the recent announcement of a new JP movie, i’m still hoping for some form of this line to finally retail. (I talked about that here)

G.I.Joe convention 2013 brochure online now!

gi-joe-the-rise-of-cobra-logo Lots of information here. View the club’s site for full details, but the key information is

“G.I. JOE: Night Force is a covert unit specializing in nighttime surveillance and defensive operations. Each team member has been selected for their enhanced skills, sophisticated hardware and advanced technology to surprise and vanquish any enemy!

This fan favorite and highly requested team contains several of the classic Night Force members and some new additions available for the first time in the modern era 25A style.

Our special edition Nocturnal Fire squad includes: Charbroil, Hit & Run, Muskrat, Psyche-Out, Repeater and Spearhead with Max (NEW Bobcat).

The Cobra Demolitions Team is ready to take on any obstacle that gets in their path of destruction. Led by the mysterious Cobra Mortal, he employs Cobra Letal and the deadly saboteur Crimson Asp (NEW female character). Their specialized troopers include: Cobra Frag-Vipers x 3, Cobra S.A.W.-Vipers x 3.”

Letal is a foreign take on the Frag viper, hit and run is not originally in the Night force, and Asp was previously the name of a vehicle. Cobra Mortal is a more well known foreign figure, and night force is probably the most liked sub team.

He wasn’t the only who missed the boat, In my focus on this site  I completely missed them. They look great. I really dig the design for Duke

So I kinda missed the boat on these. They were released for sale on Friday, but I was celebrating the birthday weekend and didn’t have much time. Not picking them up as they are in the same set with the Scarlett that I passed on. Snake Eyes and Duke complete the trio. There is the standard print (pictured) as well as variants of each. If you want them, I’d act now or eBay will be the only place to grab them.

Legandary Monsters, a 3 3/4 scale kickestarter announcement

The Legendary creatures

The Legendary creatures

Nevermore toys has announced a new line of the 3 3/4 monster action figures that they hope to fund via Kickstarter. This looks like a great potential line to set along side a G.I.Joe Zombie-viper and have your Joes hunt  them down.

chup

as you can see each monster has a base and a victim, this one is the chupachabra, my fave of the bunch.

Hit up their home page to find out more, or check them out on facebook.

Jurassic Park IV announced, what does that mean for the unproduced Joe toys?

For a few years there have been rumblings of a new Jurassic Park movie, including awful hybrid dinosaur people. Right along as movie fans tracked the progress that would eventually lead to the new new announcement earlier today  has been a set of G.I.Joe based toys that  did not see released. You can find more out more about them on Joe Declassified.

Could this offer another chance for Hasbro to get this out to consumers? possibly as an exclusive with Toys R Us as previously rumored?   Or will Hasbro be happy with having used the new tooling (heads) in the BBTS exclusive packs from last year ?
