A Fresh Start, The site Formerly known as nerdversity.com is changing.

5by5nFor my own sanity, and for a clear fresh start, I am rebranding this site as Nerdrahtio. Rahtio, being from the greek word ratio (rah-she-oh) for reason. The H added to help achieve correct pronunciation and for a unique flair.   This name change is a bit annoying, the previous .com still functions for now, and I’d like to ask everyone to  update your bookmarks and like the appropriate FB page.

Plenty more fun stuff to come later and I look forward to the future.

Menu Reconstruction

5by5nDue to internal changes, the Podcast link is temporarily dead. Stay tuned for it’s return.

Forums have temporarily been removed until I can insure  no one has inappropriate access.

You might also notice some other menu changes, including another dead link. I apologize, but I’m making things more tidy and things will be back to working order soon.

A pair of sci-fi themed “All about that Base” parodies

5by5nFirst up, “all about that space” one that I found by accident while looking for the other that I haven’t seen make the rounds too many times. After that “all about that base” which is exclusively star wars focused as opposed to the broader focus of “all about that space” which features nods to all kinds of sci-fi properties.

The G.I.Joe Millennium Falcon? (an amazing custom by Jeremy Hill found on Universal Joes)

gi-joeI was floored when I first saw this and I had to share it. Check out the images shared below (with permission) of Jeremy Hill’s amazing G.I.Joe Millennium Falcon. He posted Here on Universal Joes a closed G.I.Joe FB page of which I am member (and you should join too, if for no other reason than tell Jeremy how cool this is)

The History of G.I.Joe: Gary “Gyre-Viper” Goggles fills us in on the birth of A Real American Hero

gi-joe

Join Sam (me) and Aaron as they look at 50 years of GI Joe. This time, they’re joined by Gary “Goggles” Head AKA Gyre-Viper from JoeDeclassified and the JDSO podcast. In this episode, we take a look at the origins of the 1980s relaunch of GI Joe: A Real American Hero, retouching quickly on the 12″ iteration’s origin. Gary lends us his brain, Aaron fills us in on a few things that were happening in Europe at the same time with Action Force, and finally Aaron asks both Gary and Sam about the future of the brand. This is an extravaganza of awesome Joe stuff. You can listen to it bellow in the embedded audio player. For more of Sam, stay on this website and use the drop down menu above, for more from Aaron head to the new nerdversity101 page: http://nerdversity101podcasts.blogspot.co.uk/

Sadly Gary Head passed after this recording. He was incredibly supportive in the relaunch to Nerdrahtio and had planned to return to discuss more topics, including an episode one of his favorite comics Age of Apocalypse. He is missed daily by children, their mother, family and friends.

You can hear more from Gyre-Viper @ jdso.podbean.com (Link currently not working)
You can also participate in awesome Joe discussion in the G.I.Joe Discussion Facebook page.

UPDATE:

This post has been updated to reflect the split that occurred and ultimately lead to this website changing from nerdversity.com to Nerdrahtio.com and Nerdversity101 continuing on with Aaron and Alex and me (Sam) Gaining Tom as a co-anchor on the podcast, and retaining control of the website’s content and designs.  There was drama, but that appears to be down, I received an apology, and we are moving on.

It’s the time again. Coil Con is this Saturday in Indy (click here for more info)   As we look forward to a good time hanging out together, checking the new exclusives in person (including the obscure Weaponsmith from G.I.Joe European Missions!) I thought I would share the pics of my set from last year in a sort of review/ more of a spotlight.
